Yesterday, I went to the store close to my house to get few things I needed for the night. I went with 500 naira and decided to buy a can of Malta Guinness, a note book and a pen. I was told that everything amounted to 430 naira, I did not know when I screamed. I mean I bought only 3 items, how in the world did it get to that? So I started asking questions and I got to know that the can of drink was a whooping 250 naira and the pen was 50 naira, these items were 120/150/180 and 30 naira a few weeks ago. I guess you understand how shocked this made me, I looked at the little can in my hand and I was really pissed. Did I need to buy the drink? I mean I could have gotten a bottle of water to quench my thirst and it would have cost me nothing more than a 100 naira. I would have bought a sachet of water which is just 10 naira if I wanted to be cheap or better still, I’d have waited to get home to drink all the cold water I wanted to have. I was so angry that the drink tasted bitter in my mouth, it was a lot of money for a small can and way too much money for a drink that can be finished in less than 3 minutes. Well the month just started and I have decided to go on a Soda fast for as long as I can, if you know me then you will know my love for soda and how tough this decision is but I am willing to scale through. Hopefully, this experience would lead me to making healthier decisions and kickstart my fitness journey.
